But there was a part of her life that she missed. Something that she felt was unfinished. Someone she wanted to see again.
And she was waiting at an outdoor cafe for that exact person to arrive. To say Akira was uncharacteristically nervous would be accurate, but she hid it well, the only sign of it being the light drumming of her fingers against the table...
no subject
My, my. [She pushes her sunglasses down slightly to get a better look at Akira.] Surely such a handsome stranger can't be here all on her own, can she? This seat must be taken!
[...Because heaven forbid she just says hi like a normal person.]
no subject
Before long, her lips curl into a smile.]
I suppose I'm lucky that such a beautiful cat has deigned to come sit at my side.
[One bit of overly dramatic flirting deserves another, Yukari.]
no subject
[Yukari giggles as she smoothly takes the seat across from Akira.]
Well, one can't just leave such a kind dog all on her own. [She leans forward, a playful smile on her face.] How many girls must've offered to take this seat, I wonder?

you know what i'm about
The Knight stands in the quiet of a town from their memories. Everything is as they know it to be; dusty and blue, dotted with the warm lights of houses (though nobody is there).
They walk to the bench in the middle of the silent town, and sit. They wait, patiently, for something. ]
no subject
No. They.
Sibling.
And then back to the darkness once more. Forever, they had assumed. But then...
The Hollow Knight stands and that is odd, because they should not be capable of doing that any longer. They tilt their head as they take in the sight before them. Buildings with little lights... The word for it escapes them for a moment and it resurfaces slowly, a memory almost, but not quite, forgotten.
Home. These are homes.
It's hard to move, still. Maybe it's just been too long. Maybe it's just in their mind now. In any case, it's why they're slow as they move through the town... and yet, before they know it, they're in the middle of it.
Standing before a bench and looking down to see what they found themselves drawn to. Right there.
Sibling.]
no subject
The bench is familiar. They sit, and though this is a dream or some fragment of memory, though darkness has no reason to tire or to be apart in this way at all - it happens regardless.
But all tiredness, or the dream of it, falls away as they sense who they've been waiting for. A much taller shadow, looming large, no longer bound by chains or duty or riddled with light.
(No longer crying in their loneliness and pain. That ceaseless lament silent at last.)
They hop from the bench to look up at their elder sibling, no longer apprehensive. Nothing to fight or be sad for any longer.
Sibling. Even here, unshackled, the Knight doesn't - cannot - speak. The thoughts come unbidden, echoing in the space between them; a sense of longing and loneliness they were unable to convey in the waking world.
They approach, reaching out to touch the Hollow Knight's cloak; grasping onto it, looking up, like they can't quite believe this is real.
(They have been lonely, one small shadow with barely anyone to understand them, for so long.) ]
no subject
They're clutching their cloak and there's a moment where the Hollow Knight only stares. Because they're not sure what to do or how to react. The instinct to fight hurt kill is gone now. But nothing else has smoothly taken its place. It's not a switch that's been flipped and taken them back to who they used to be; if they would have even known back then, for that matter, which they're not sure about either.
Uncertain, they decide to simply lower down to the ground, crouching as best they can.
Seeing eye to eye with their sibling, or as close as they can get with the difference in their heights... That seems like a good start.
Hello, they want to say. Hello. It's nice to finally meet you.]

time for AU sads ("rem this is your own post" shhhhh)
A diagnostics scan tells him he was in sleep-mode, which explains why he feels so groggy. It does not tell him how long he was out for - too many functions aren't working right, not broken, yet giving him errors anyway - but the dust and debris that fall off him when he stands tell him a thing or two anyway. It makes sense, anyway. The injury that got him... that could've been it. The fact that he managed to recover from that at all is nothing short of a miracle, so yeah, it would've been a while.
Days, at least. Maybe weeks? That's a lot of time to spend in some... crevasse? At least he's out now.
It's too much time wasted. This isn't where he's meant to be. So even with busted functions and errors slowing him down, Heart wastes no time. He moves.
Because he has a king to find and Ardyn has certainly waited long enough.
...He finds out, soon, that he recognizes nothing and it must have been... a little longer than a few weeks. Dread fills him once that realization hits him and he tries not to think about exactly how long it must have been. He keeps going anyway. Maybe because he realizes this, since...
What else does he have, if this is gone?
Suddenly changed world or not, if there is anything left to find, he will get there. Heart is nothing if not determined. And he finds more than what he expected, which means... maybe it hasn't been that long, after all? Because he finds the name. Nothing else fits, but he can't worry about that now. There are a lot of things he's not worrying or thinking about, because that would mean stopping, even if only for a moment, and he can't do that. Not when something might be in reach after all.
One man isn't so hard to track down when you're driven and don't need to stop for anything.
And... well, Heart's arrival is likely the last thing Ardyn is expecting. It's sudden, with no real announcement. He's just... there, looking tired, drained, and very much worse for wear, while at the same time looking like no time has passed at all. And all he'll say to start is just... one word, cautiously hopeful and relieved.]
Ardyn...

[The other funny thing about immortality was the amount of things that were lost or made terribly hazy by the slow crawl of time.]
...Yes?
no subject
But the response is so unlike what he expected that he finds himself at a loss for what to say next.]
I... [He hesitates.] I was...
[This shouldn't be so hard, should it?]
I'm sorry. I made you wait.
no subject
[No one from Niflheim would be stupid enough to show their face in Lucis, not to mention he'd be Chancellor to them before he was ever Ardyn. Not one of Noctis', either. But then who would...]
[A vague memory started to surface as if it was one belonging to someone else--it may as well have, in the strictest sense. Because that Ardyn was dead and buried, had been for endless ages.]
Don't I...know you?

How had he found this place? Well it turns out when you had access to the whole of the network
sans JARVIS's interferenceyou could find out a lot. Including secret hideouts, and the name of someone you hoped was a like minded individual.]Well well well, as hideouts go, not bad. Very ostentatious. I like the stuffed tiger. Very decadent. Now... is home where the Heart is, I wonder?
no subject
...And isn't this interesting?]
Oh? I didn't realize I was so sought after. [He steps further into the room, not taking his eyes off his guest as he does.] I think, generally, it's considered polite to knock.
But then I suppose that's the human rule, isn't it?

I'm Ultron. Perhaps you've heard of my work? I'm the latest disaster those so-called Avengers brought upon themselves.

I've heard a few things, yes. I hadn't paid it too much mind, considering little of all that has made its way here... Until now.

Makopiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
However, come Valentine's Day, it was lucky if you went to her school and could escape from the Student Council President. She had no intentions of running again for her senior year, after the last twelve months she had way too much on her plate, and that was something even she - remarkably - could recognize. So, she was more or less going out with a bang, and took the idea of "obligation chocolate" to a whole new level. If you passed by her, you were getting something. Not just everyone in her class, or grade. Everyone. Each delivery in a little big with a neatly tied pink bow.
It wouldn't be hard to surmise what Mana had been doing, which given her tendency to over extend herself, could also be a concern. Had she cornered any of her friends yet, which she... had not. Rather strangely, actually. Not that she was avoiding them, just...
Ah! Her eyes light up as she rounds a corner, catching sight of a familiar head of purple hair.
"MAKOPI~! Yoohoo!"
Relevantly, Mana's on the far end of the hall as she sees Makoto. Meaning every class between them is liable to hear her.
no subject
But she notices the chocolate. It's not even that she's keeping an eye out for it. However, when literally everyone she passes seems to be carrying the same pink-bowed chocolate with them.
...And then she hears that voice. Makoto sighs a little as she turns, both fond and exasperated.
"Mana." It's said at a normal volume and she very deliberately waits for Mana to catch up with her, rather than approach her herself. "That's too loud."
no subject
She beams at her purple-haired friend. "This is the first Valentine's you've had in our world, right? I bet a super popular idol would just get buried in chocolate." She taps her chin, mouth going a mile a minute. "You know I never asked, do they have anything like this in the Trump Kingdom?"

Space Rock Voice Testing is Go!
[Sometimes, Rose goes over the fence. She knows she shouldn't, it's too dangerous for humans to know too much or become involved with their business, but...it was a sort of torture, to be so close and so removed. Shouldn't she be allowed to sometimes go into their places, see them, see what they've done and made and how they live now?]
[Fingers twined in the links of the chain fence, Rose cranes her head to watch along the little curve of beach that leads from town to the temple. It's empty, nothing but sand and moonlight, but she can hope for a glimpse of a human wandering out under the moon. They never came close, but sometimes she could catch glimpses of them. But tonight, even after hours, the shore remained vacant and still.]
[She only wanted to watch them. That wasn't so terrible, was it? Just...see them up close, enjoy the brightness of their being. The lights are brightest where the beach curves round the hill, the glow maddening and tempting and promising all sorts of discoveries and adventures...]
[Rose sighs, cheek pressed to the cool fence.]
Is there anything more amazing than human life?
no subject
And of course it was, it was their planet. Wasn't that part of what they had fought for? But Pearl couldn't ever appreciate them the same way she could Gems. Not the way... Rose could.
Speaking of whom...
There she was, watching through the fence. It's when Pearl sees her that anything that could even resemble doubt about this planet disappears. Who cares where she is, as long as it's together with Rose?
Still, what is so fascinating about that small human town nearby? Well, Rose always could find beauty in everything. Of course this was no different. But when it comes to her words, Pearl can't help but have her own answer ready, as she approaches.]
I don't know, I could think of something.
[Or someone.
...About 0.2 seconds later, a blue blush creeps onto her face and she very pointedly looks straight ahead through the fence, away from the other Gem.]
You know, there's just so many... wonderful things out here, how could anyone pick! Right?
[Smooth, Pearl. Smooth.]
no subject
[Rose turns with a soft smile, letting a hand drop from the fence. It lifts her face and brightens her eyes as they catch the moonlight. So much changes on this planet, but some things...]
[Some things were so very comfortably the same.]
There are so many wonderful things on Earth, aren't there? But humans...humans are my favorite Earth thing. Can you believe how far they've come in so little time?
[She still remembers so clearly when humans first settled on this part of the shore, despite all odds against them...]
Just think how much more they'll do!

But right now, she was more nervous than anything, as she stepped into the bookstore at the address Yayoi had given here. Instantly, she could tell it was the sort of place where Miyuki would work.
Taking a deep breath, she walked to the nearest person who looked like an employee.]
Ah... excuse me, but I'm looking for a Hoshizora Miyuki. Is she working here today?
FIVE MILLION YEARS LATER...
More importantly, a voice is ringing out.]
Hi, hi! Ah, sorry, I'll be right there! But how can I help y-- WAH!
[And suddenly, there's... the sound of books falling. No, more like a book avalanche.
...Yeah, that's Miyuki over there, alright.
She's.
A little buried in her work right now.]
