[and thus Oswald's triumphant expression transforms back into that petulant, childish face] Well--good! It should be! Next one will be aimed for your head!
[Oswald's annoyed expression falters, dropping into confusion at the shake of Edward's head, then back into confused annoyance, edging haughty--though he does start to descend the fire escape]
Should someone do something? Gotham has constant public disturbances in practically every corner of the city, and I sincerely doubt ours is the most disturbing. Not that it's your job to quell them, I expect. Considering you don't look like the GCPD, what with such an...interesting...[YEAH THAT "INTERESTING" WAS RATHER SCORNFUL] outfit on.
[Up until this man mentions wanted fugitives, Oswald was prepared to shoo this interloper off with a slap on the wrist. However, as he and Edward continue their going back and forth, he's descending the rest of the fire escape at a much more rapid pace, any and all brattiness or levity gone from his face as he approaches, stepping up behind whoever this person is who essentially just threatened to send Edward back to Arkham and pulling the pistol he has tucked into a side holster, pressing the barrel to the back of his head and pulling back the hammer]
I think it's time for you to leave.
[and that is no longer Oswald yelling at Edward from a fire escape, but the Penguin, dealing with a threat to what's his.]
[Robin moves quick, elbowing Oswald and ducking down, grabbing and extending his bo staff. Which he's gonna just, uh, try to use to sweep Oswald's legs out from under him.]
[In an instant, he's on the ground--and Oswald feels the wind go out of him, and he gasps, once,--and for the moment, he stays down, gasping again at air, but his eyes stay sharp, hand tightening on his cane.
[Oswald is going to let him get just close enough--let that bo staff get near enough to his throat--before he swings his cane out, knocking it away while drawing the dagger from the hilt at the same time, slashing it at Robin's face as he rolls up through his knees and onto his feet]
The attempt actually surprises Robin and Oswald manages to get a good slash in, blood dripping from a cut on his cheek. Robin leaps back, pulling out a shuriken. Of course, now he's at a distance again, which is a bit of a problem for Oswald.
[he's at a distance, now, but Oswald's on his feet at least, eyes narrowed. He's more than happy to have the guy's attention--significantly better than it being on Edward. He straightens a bit, though still hunched over slightly. The corner of his lip curls, tilting his head up a bit, nose in the air just a bit]
I did give you a chance to walk away. Which I do think was rather generous.
[he replaces the dagger in the cane, twisting to lock it in place, before leaning on it once again, as if this altercation has been little more than a blip on his radar, hardly worth his time. He also stoops down to retrieve his gun, meaning to put it back into its holster.]
[Robin, for his part, looks like he's really not ready to back down. He's already taking aim with that shuriken, ready.
"Yeah, I don't think so. And you--"
There's an interruption, then, as an alarm is going off. Robin actually looks up at the sound. It doesn't sound like just a car alarm, this is the sound of a proper break-in.]
You... [Robin turns to look at Edward.] ...should probably get that.
[Robin hesitates... but puts the shuriken back. He stares at Edward for a little bit longer and then shoots a glare at Oswald.
"...Aren't you guys lucky?"
And then he pulls out a granpnel gun, shooting it at the building and travelling upwards. Glancing at the two in the alley once more, before finally running off to get to the source of that alarm.
[Oswald had tensed, getting ready to counteract the next attack--but then the alarm. And Edward's suggestion. And then suddenly the man is swinging off, and Oswald can't help but shout after him] I was going to say the same for you!
[because of course Oswald can't resist a parting shot. He huffs, annoyed, settling back]
I was hoping to take out one of his eyes. Too bad.
[YEP HE'S....totally casual about this, readjusting his cuffs and straightening his suit]
[Oswald blinks at that, startled, but moving as soon as Edward puts a hand on his shoulder]
Did you--[and yep okay, that clicks--and he huffs just a little, increasing his pace to match Edward's ] I suppose I'll just have to take the eyes next time.

Um.
["...Do I even want to know what's going on here?"]
no subject
No, because it's none of your business! [he makes a little "shoo"ing motion with his hand] So mind your own and move along, now.
no subject
"Really. 'Cause it seems like you two are causing a public disturbance and someone should do something."]
What, us? No, no, certainly not! [Edward laughs a little nervously.] We... were just... leaving.

[he's about two floors down from the ground, now]

"Yeah, see, here's the thing. Generally disturbances don't involve wanted fugitives." Robin looks directly at Edward as he says that.]
Technically...! [Edward keeps facepalming as he speaks.] Technically, I have done nothing illegal.
["I mentioned the wanted part, didn't I? Pretty sure I did."]
Oh, honestly now...! I've done nothing to you!
["Uh, remember when you kidnapped me?"]
ONE TIME!

[Robin just stares straight ahead.
"You really don't want to do this, pal."]

You should take advantage of that.

Right, yep, okay, we need to go, now.
Because he's going to realize soon that that's a fake alarm, and we should be not here when he does.
no subject

I cannot believe you just knifed Robin.
