[Rather than a direct text, Oswald gets a link sent to him. And then a few more. Various news articles, all reporting about the appearance of a new criminal called "The Riddler".
Apparently he made his entrance with a large scale theft... of important government records, passing through Gotham before they were scheduled to be brought to DC. And he made a formal introduction soon after, announcing himself with a chemiluminescent question mark glowing on the side of a building, directing everyone's attention to a nearby screen, where he made a formal announcement claiming responsibility for the theft. Or, well. Rather, he did so in the form of a riddle. Of course. He has himself a fancy question mark cane and everything!
You definitely can't ignore that.
It's been a few days, since, and the various headlines say such things as "RIDDLER LEAVES GCPD MYSTIFIED". Seems they're really at a dead end.
Oh, yes, I should say so! It's quite the rush. Not just the theft - but also definitely the theft, that was very thrilling - but just knowing the GCPD is scrambling to find me... and failing miserably.
They really have no leads whatsoever. And I've heard nothing from the Bat, either. I'm not surprised he's not even trying to figure this out. It's important to know when you've been beaten.
There really was no other way this could turn out, was there? I was hoping it would be a LITTLE more challenging, all things considered, but I just have no worthy opponents around.
How sad.
And now, I have these records to play around with. Oh, the information in some of these... This is going to make some very important people very nervous.
Which is probably why the officials speaking up in the news are sweating so much. I doubt there'd be such pressure on the police to solve this one had I stolen anything else.

Well. That's one less brute to worry about, at least. Good riddance.

Question! What do the elements germanium, nickel, uranium, and sulfur have in common with the Riddler?

They’re both made up of many elements?

Oswald come on.

[now this is just delightful ]
Hmmm....is it that uranium glass is bright green in the right light?
Though I suppose that discounts the other elements...
